"Spooky" Messy Church on October 17, 2025
What a great time we had celebrating an early Halloween party!

We inviting our congregation and the surrounding community to join us on 17Oct25 celebrating our 3rd year of Messy Church!  WooHoo!  What a great showing - we had over 75 people.  We had "scary" dinner preparations such as "Spooky" salad, Bugs and Worms Mac n' Cheese, Bloody Spider Meatloaf,  "Ghosted" vegetables, Spider cookies, and RIP Cupcakes. Attendees enjoy the sing alongs and dancing to energize the crowd.  The activities were creative with assembly of light chambers to go along with the theme "Light in the Darkness".   We sure had lots of fun.  We also collected approximately $400 worth of food donations for the Open Pantry of Lowell.  Nice job! The people at the Open Pantry were so appreciative.

Messy Church on May 16, 2025
Theme - "A Mothers New Beginnings"

Messy Church is about bringing you a free dinner, engaging activities, singing, inspirational messages, and a photobooth to remember this great event with your family and friends.  We collected gifts for Mother's New Beginnings such as baby wipes, diapers, and formula.  We delivered about $100 worth of diapers and wipes to the Open Pantry of Greater Lowell (https://theopenpantry.org/) and about $400 worth of diapers, wipes and formula to the Lowell Diaper Bank (https://www.lowellalliance.org/lowell-diaper-bank).  Each of these organizations distribute these donations to new mothers visiting their site or to partner agencies helping new mothers in the wider community.  These organizations were so appreciative of our focus to help our community.  Thank you!

Finding faith with the Grinch Story
December 13, 2024

We certainly had fun this night in our December 2024 Messy Church.  We had Roast Beast, Cindy Lu Who Salad, Max's rolls, Who Mash, Grinch Juice and a Grinch cake for dessert.  Delicious! We fed about 55 people, took part in many of the Grinch activities for all, and sang lots of Christmas Carols.  The Grinch stole our gifts but we sang anyway that led to the Grinch's heart growing three sizes larger than it was.  He realized that Christmas wasn't about the presents and that it was about being together and celebrating Jesus, the gift from God.  The Grinch gave the presents back and celebrated with us with a big slice of Roast Beast.  Don't miss the next Messy Church.

Messy Church!
March 1, 2024 5:30PM

We certainly brought the Love at the March 1 Messy Church!  We collected donations of $1850 in gift cards for feeding our local immigrant population from this event and our Ash Wednesday Service.  These $25/$50 Market Basket Gift Card donations will be given to Community Teamwork(CTI) that is managing this immigrant relief effort in Lowell.  We celebrated with lots of dancing, music, activities and dinner.

Messy Church is a program started in the Fall 2023 at West Chelmsford United Methodist Church that is designed as a community gathering for all ages. We were lucky enough to be financially supported the first 2 years through a grant from the United Methodist Foundation of New England to help out with food costs, supplies and marketing efforts. This is a contemporary worship experience celebrating community diversity and offers a night of dinner, fun activities, music, and games. Our first event was Friday, October 13, 2023 as we honored Jesus as our "Superhero"!.  Our December 15, 2023 at 5:30PM Messy Church theme celebrated Jesus with a "Birthday Party"!  Both events were well attended where stomachs were filled and fun was had by all. Over 150 pair of socks and many hats were collected in the December Messy Church for delivery to those in need at the Lowell Transitional Living Center.  Our March 1, 2024 Messy Church topped off a major fundraiser by collecting $1850 in Market Basket gift cards to help a nonprofit organization called Community Teamwork fight food insecurity for many of our migrants from Haiti, Venezuela, and other countries living on the Lowell area.  Amazing! Our May 3, 2024 Messy Church raised donations for New Mothers by donations of diapers, wipes and formula that will be given to nonprofit organizations in Lowell area supporting New Mothers. This included a big Italian dinner, music and activities for all generations. Look for our next Messy Church on this website.   We are rocking 2025 with more Messy Church events planned for the end of the year and have plans to have a few more Messy Church events in 2026. Come back to this website page to check out when the next one is.  See you there!

The program was started by BRF Ministries (https://www.messychurch.org.uk/) in the United Kingdom in 2004 and it has spread to programs being offered around the world!  Messy Church values are about being Christ-centered, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.  It is an evening for adults, youth and children seeking a fun way to enjoy your faith journey no matter where you are on this path.  Come join us on the scheduled Friday of the month for dinner and activities!
