Messy Church is a new program started last Fall 2023 at West Chelmsford United Methodist Church that is designed as a community gathering for all ages. We are lucky enough to be financially supported through a grant from the United Methodist Foundation of New England to help out with food costs, supplies and marketing efforts. This is a contemporary worship experience celebrating community diversity and offers a night of dinner, fun activities, and games. Our first event was Friday, October 13, 2023 as we honored Jesus as our "Superhero"!. Our December 15, 2023 at 5:30PM Messy Church theme celebrated Jesus with a "Birthday Party"! Both events were well attended where stomachs were filled and fun was had by all. Over 150 pair of socks and many hats were collected in the December Messy Church for delivery to those in need at the Lowell Transitional Living Center. Come help us celebrate and have some fun at our next event planned for March 1, 2024, Friday at 5:30PM.
The program was started by BRF Ministries (https://www.messychurch.org.uk/) in the United Kingdom in 2004 and it has spread to programs being offered around the world! Messy Church values are about being Christ-centered, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration. It is an evening for adults, youth and children seeking a fun way to enjoy your faith journey no matter where you are on this path. Come join us on the scheduled Friday of the month for dinner and activities!
