The music ministry includes seven organized and regularly rehearsing choirs for all ages – both vocal and handbells. It also includes many individuals who volunteer their time and talents to enhance the worship services.
CAROL CHOIR and JOY RINGERS – Grades 2-6
All the children both sing and play handbells and/or handchimes. They participate in worship at 11:00am on the third Sunday of the month. These choirs also have access to the boomwhackers and rhythm instruments and enjoy playing rhythm games with each other. They rehearse weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm. There is room for a few more choir members this fall. For more information contact Minister of Music, Karen Leonard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CELEBRATION RINGERS and SINGERS – Grades 7-12
The mid-high and senior high youth choirs are an exuberant and talented group of teens. Their regular schedule has them participating in worship on the third Sunday of the month at both 9:30 and 11:00am services. The high school ringers have enjoyed ringing at the annual Ring Out! in November with other New England youth handbell choirs. They also participate in the annual MA Spring Ring held at Tewksbury Memorial High School in Tewksbury, MA in March or April. We would gladly welcome more ringers and singers this fall. Anyone interested in membership in this fun group please contact Minister of Music, Karen Leonard at email@example.com. Rehearsals are held weekly on Sunday afternoon from 4:30-6:30pm.
FESTIVAL RINGERS – Adult Handbells
The Festival Ringers provide music at both the 9:30 and 11:00am services generally on the fourth Sunday of the month. They also have been invited to play at the Ecumenical Choir Festival at Gordon College for several years. This group participates in the annual MA Spring Ring at Tewksbury Memorial High School in Tewksbury, MA and in the biennial convocation of handbell ringers from throughout the northeast sponsored by the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and held at various college campuses in New England. Currently there are no openings in this choir, but we are always in need of substitute ringers for rehearsals and occasionally for a service as well. Anyone interested should contact the Minister of Music, Karen Leonard at firstname.lastname@example.org. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm.
SENIOR CHOIR – Adult Vocal
In a regularly scheduled month, the Senior Choir will sing at the 9:30 and 11:00am services on the first Sunday. Occasionally they will combine with other choirs for special music. A variety of styles and periods of music is studied and presented to the congregation in conjunction with the seasons of the church year. In addition this choir presents an annual Christmas Cantata and Lenten Cantata. Some members also participate in the annual Ecumenical Choir Festival in October at Gordon College and we join with the choir of Aldersgate UMC for the Ash Wednesday service.
The Senior Choir is actively looking for new members and would welcome anyone seeking to share a love and talent for music with the congregation through this group. They rehearse weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:15pm. For more information contact Minister of Music, Karen Leonard at email@example.com.
PRAISE CHOIR – Multi-generational Vocal
Our Contemporary Worship offering will continue this year on the second Sunday of the month. The Praise Choir supports these services. Admission to this group is open to all ages. Rehearsals are held from 6:00-7:00pm on the first Sunday of the month. The music will be led by Steve Hunt. Anyone interested should contact the Minister of Music, Karen Leonard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
